Bondo Community Development Network

It's no doubt inspiring to see young generation standing tall to enhance their communities socio-economic development.
In Kenya just like in many developing countries, youths are very much neglected and growing up in such countries is a big challenge for majority of the young generation right from birth. Travelling in one of the Kenya's least developed constituencies, Bondo Constituency in Siaya County,I came across a newly established youth network Bondo Community Development Network (BCDN).
Such youth networks are rare to come across in this particular constituency so I developed a unique interest just to extract more information on their dream. I noticed they were very organized with ambitious vision of building a community without poverty through engaging energetic youth in environmental issues and youth income generating activities.
This group operates in 25 sub-locations making up Bondo Constituency: Usenge, Got Agulu, Mahanga, Nyang’oma, Ndeda/Oyamo, Uyawi,Nyaguda, Got Abiero, East Migwena, West Migwena, Usigu, Got Ramogi,Bar-Kanyango, Nyamonye, Othach, Pala, Utonga, Kapiyo, Maranda, Usire, Nyawita,Bar-Kowino, Ajigo, Bar-Chando and Abom.
Of great interest to me was their extensive link from the villages to sub-locations and finally to the constituency.
The group concentrates on Millennium Development Goal 1 and Millennium Development Goal 7.  Goal number 1 aims at eradicating extreme poverty and hunger while goal number 7 aims at ensuring environmental sustainability. The group believes that it has what it takes to bring a substantial change in Bondo constituency.
A different approach that may perhaps aid the group's development,is there global volunteer opportunities for both the international and local citizens.Their global opportunities are in 3 main categories: children focus, environmental conservation and youth income generating activities.

Lets hope this group becomes successful in their endeavours.Good luck!!
